Our Story

Yarallah is located 10km west of Benalla in North East Victoria. Our family has lived at Yarallah for 24 years and each member of the family is involved in the property. The property has cropping and a sheep/lamb finishing enterprise. As primary producers, we are proud of and passionately committed to providing good quality and accountably grown food. We believe that producing and finishing lamb locally will reduce food miles and create a more sustainable food system into the future.

Our Lamb ‘Yarallah Lamb’ is either bred on the farm or purchased from farmers near by. We grow out the lamb on grass until they are around 35kg. They are then finished for 5-6 weeks on a nutritionally balanced grain ration based on barley that is mostly grown on the property. When finished, the lambs are around 44-45kg liveweight or 21-22kg carcase weight. They are processed at the local abattoir and cut up at Rettke’s Carrier Street Meats, in Benalla (Prime Safe Number T00067).  Finishing lamb on grain ensures it is of the best quality and most tender – all the time.
